Open Board Positions 2016-2017

Open PTO Board Positions
2016-2017 School Year
With Thanksgiving approaching and food on our minds...
how about some food for thought.
Why become a PTO board member?

* It's a great way to benefit your child and their schools.

* There is no better way to get to know what's happening in your
child's school and the community.

* PTO events are a great opportunity to meet other parents and educators in our district.
Grow as a parent by sharing parenting ideas, school concerns and experiences.

* A great way to share and hone your existing skills and hobbies...and benefit from working with other parents with different skills and abilities to enhance your own.
Or seek out a challenge and try something new!

* Promote change by being part of the solution in helping to make positive changes
as a crucial part of fundraising efforts.
Those efforts enhance Pre-K through 5th grade students and staff for years to come.
The PTO strives to work hard for educational based programs and giving students activities such as field trips, guest speakers and building enhancements they may not receive with state funding.

* By becoming a PTO board member, you demonstrate to your child the importance you place on education and the importance of working together for the betterment of all students.

2016-2017 PTO Board Openings
Co-President
Co-Treasurer
Secretary
Terms are 2 years
If you have questions on a position, email peotonepto@gmail.com
and a board member of that position will be in touch with you to answer your questions.

Take 5 With...Adam Rusek

Take 5 With...Adam Rusek
Job Title: Band Director
School:  PIC and PHS

1) What was the best present you ever received when you were a kid?
Sesame Street Letter Railroad track. My mom tells the story about how I wanted it so badly one year for Christmas that she learned the midnight delivery schedule for Toys R Us and would go and wait for the trucks to unload to see if there was one on there.

2) What is your favorite season and what do you like about it?
I like the summer because of the opportunity to go outside and spend time with my daughter playing in the yard, zoo, or pool.

3) If you had to pick one... would you sing or dance in public?
I would rather dance because I'm bad at it and it's just comical.

4) What is your favorite band/singer?
I like a wide variety of music, but one of my old standbys is Metallica.
I'm also a big Beatles and Hendrix fan, though I do like pop too.

5) Something memorable a student once said to you about your hair/clothes or their own hair/clothes?
"Mr. Rusek, you look hot" while I was wearing a dress shirt and tie one day when the temperature was over 90 degrees. The student immediately turned red because they realized what they just said, though they didn't mean it that way.

Happy Monday!
Hope you enjoyed the long weekend...just a few things for the week:
Tuesday (11/10) PTO Meeting at PES - 6:30pm
Wednesday (11/11) Veteran's Day -  School is in session
Each building will have thoughtful remembrance honoring our Veterans.

* Still looking for a photographer to volunteer their time to take pictures of the children with Santa at the Pancake Breakfast on 12/12 - 8am-1pm.  This is a great opportunity to build your business as you may hand out fliers highlighting your business to the families as they come through.
