Early Release Friday

Friday (12/18) is an Early Release!
PIC: 12:45pm - PES: 1:30pm - Pre-K: No School

Take 5 With...Roger Phillips

Take 5 With...Roger Phillips
Job Title: 5th Grade Teacher
School: PIC

1) What was the best present you ever received when you were a kid?
The best present I received when I was a kid was having my mom live for nearly 40 years after a breast cancer diagnosis--still going strong by the way.

2) What is your favorite season and what do you like about it?
My favorite season is summer because I can go on vacations with my family and spend time with them. It's not so rushed.

3) If you had to pick one... would you sing or dance in public?
I would rather sing in public because when I dance, I do the opposite of what everyone does.  Check out the Green Garden Talent Show on YouTube from a few years ago for evidence.  Plus, when I dance, I purse my lips and swing my fists around.
Not attractive at all.

4) What is your favorite band/singer?
Right now, I have been listening a lot to the Black Keys and Silversun Pickups.  They are alternative music bands you would hear on Q101.

5) Something memorable a student once said to you about your hair/clothes or their own hair/clothes?
Once a student told me about 15 years ago: Hey, Mr. Phillips, did you know you have a big bald spot on the top of your head? That made my day!

Pancake Breakfast Vedette Article

What a pleasant surprise this morning to see a
wonderful article on the Pancake Breakfast written by Karen Haave in the Vedette.
The PTO thanks Karen for personally coming to take part in our events
and always follows up with a nice write up. We are lucky!:-)

Little Caesars Fundraiser Error

Quick note:
The information was sent home today for the PTO's Little Caesars fundraiser.  Little Caesars made 2 errors on the printed letter:
1) The letter states it's a Peotone Elementary Fundraiser.  This is a Peotone PTO fundraiser. Orders will cover all 3 schools, regardless of what they wrote on the cover letter.
2) The letter states to make checks payable to Peotone Elementary.  That is not the case. Checks should be made payable to Peotone PTO.

Orders are due:  1/18
Delivery: 2/4 (You choose - PES or PIC for pick-up)
We apologize for the confusion.
Have a good evening!

Job Title: 2nd Grade Teacher
School: PES

1) What was the best present you ever received when you were a kid?
The best present I ever got was stuffed animals. Yes, I was one of those kids that had so many stuffed animals on my bed that I didn't even fit. I remember setting them all up on the bed and pretending I was on a magic carpet with them. I always was so careful that none of them fell off including myself :)

2) What is your favorite season and what do you like about it?
My favorite season is ... Yes it is summer. I love the warm days and sitting in the sun. My favorite thing to do is be outside. It doesn't matter if I am running, bike riding,  hiking, or sitting at a beach. I chose to be outside all the time. The sun and heat makes me happy!

3) If you had to pick one... would you sing or dance in public?
If I had to pick either dancing or singing in public I would choose ... well it is really hard to say since those would be my 2 worst talents. I would probably chose the dancing because I could hide behind someone and at least try to keep up. The singing would definitely be noticed.

4) What is your favorite band/singer?
I love all country music. My kids and I started listening to it a couple years ago and now there are so many stations that play it that we can always find a good song on the radio.   We like to roll the windows down and turn it up :)

5) Something memorable a student once said to you about your hair/clothes or their own hair/clothes?
I just remember one time a child told me they liked my shirt and I said thank you it was my daughter's, and the look I got when I told them I could wear the same clothes as her was memorable.  Not sure if I should have taken It as a compliment or not :)
